Lyrics

Windows Down

We were driving down the highway
headed for the old farm house
to pick out a suit
for my Grandpa to wear.
The mirror on the highway
reflected back our car.
Funny, how far we drove today.

And world seems brighter
with the windows down.
And the air flowing free
and the clouds in the sky
and no one said a word.

Later in the evening
we were gathered back at home
to talk of his life and
the stories he would tell.
Jodie took my hand and
we walked out to her car.
We rolled down the top
and we drove into the night.

And world seems brighter
with the windows down.
And the air flowing free
and the clouds in the sky
and no one said a word.

Early in the morning
we were getting dressed for town
to pay our respects
to a man we all loved.
Mama said she's thankful
for us kids being 'round
I held back my tears
to that long drive to town.

And world seems brighter
with the windows down.
And the air flowing free
and the clouds in the sky
and no one said a word.
